Utica Man Charged in Domestic Stabbing Incident

UTICA, NY – A domestic dispute escalated into violence early on April 12th, 2024, resulting in a stabbing on the 1500 block of Kemble St. Utica Police and Fire units were called to the scene around 4:00 AM, where they met with a female victim who had sustained a significant laceration to her lower back.

The victim reported that during an argument, her boyfriend stabbed her. She managed to escape and returned to her residence, where she called 911 for help. Upon arrival, emergency responders promptly transported her to Wynn Hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Zachariah Johnson of Utica, was located shortly thereafter by patrol officers and taken into custody without further incident.

Johnson has been charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, as the investigation concluded. He is currently being held pending arraignment.
