Traffic Advisory: Street Closures for Newark Food Distribution Event

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety has announced street closures for an upcoming Drive-Up and Go Food Distribution event, scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has confirmed that Chestnut Street between Pulaski Street and Elm Road/Wheeler Point Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the event.

The food distribution will start at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Hennessey Street. Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to plan alternative routes around the closure. This initiative is part of the City of Newark’s efforts to provide essential services to its residents.
