Man Charged After Being Confronted for Smoking Weed At New Jersey Park

ABSECON, NJ — An Absecon man was arrested following an altercation at the Sports Complex on Morton Avenue. Officers were called to the scene shortly after 5:00 PM on Monday.

The incident began when Kevin J. McAnally, 56, was asked by another attendee to stop smoking marijuana near juvenile children. McAnally responded by brandishing an awl and chasing the man who confronted him. A witness contacted 9-1-1, leading to McAnally’s arrest by the responding officers.

McAnally has been charged with assault and related weapons offenses. Authorities confirmed that the victim was unharmed and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
