Prince George’s County Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting in Forest Heights

FOREST HEIGHTS, MD – An officer-involved shooting in Forest Heights is currently under investigation by the Prince George’s County Police Department, following an incident involving 35-year-old Jhomari Delevante of Silver Spring. The incident took place on Monday evening.

According to initial findings, at approximately 5:30 pm on April 15, Forest Heights Police officers identified a vehicle associated with an assault suspect from a nearby jurisdiction. Delevante, the driver, was commanded multiple times to exit his SUV. Upon exiting, he approached officers while holding what appeared to be a knife but was later identified as a silver-colored multi-tool. In response, a Forest Heights officer discharged his weapon, injuring Delevante.

Officers provided immediate medical aid until an ambulance transported him to the hospital, where he is currently recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation by the Prince George’s County Police continues as they gather more details on the shooting.
