Cumberland Police Department Announces Drug-Related Arrests

CUMBERLAND, MD—The Cumberland Police Department conducted several arrests related to controlled dangerous substances (CDS) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. These incidents involved routine traffic stops where police K-9 units alerted officers to the presence of narcotics.

During a stop at approximately 2:57 PM on N. George Street, Jolene Carrie Fischer, 37, from Warfordsburg, PA, and James Eugene Lewis, 52, from Romney, WV, were found with illegal substances. Fischer was charged with possession of two types of controlled dangerous substances, while Lewis was found with drug paraphernalia. Both were issued criminal citations and released pending trial.

Earlier that day, at around 11:42 AM, another traffic stop on Park Street led to the arrest of Dana Renee Harris, 42, from Ridgeley, WV. Harris was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and similarly released on citation.

These actions are part of ongoing efforts by the Cumberland Police to address drug-related offenses in the community.
