Charges Filed Against 21-Year-Old Following Incident at Allegheny County Jail

Allegheny County Police have charged 21-year-old Dayvonne Jackson after an incident at the Allegheny County Jail on Wednesday morning. Jackson was taken to the jail by a Swissvale police officer following an arrest for defiant trespass.

While being processed, a 9mm round fell to the floor, prompting Jackson to engage in a physical altercation with officers as they tried to secure him.

A loaded handgun with an altered serial number was found on Jackson. He is facing charges for carrying a firearm without a license and resisting arrest. Jackson is currently detained at the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment on Sunday. A corrections officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
