Hermenegilda Marquez, 27, was arrested this Wednesday for aggravated assault on a school employee following an incident on April 11 after 2 p.m. at 625 West McKellips in Mesa.

Marquez was caught on school district surveillance video attacking a 64-year-old school bus driver whom she accused of insulting her daughter as students were disembarking. The video captured Marquez yelling and physically assaulting the driver in front of 11 children.

Further details from court documents revealed that Marquez’s attack included verbal abuse and physical aggression towards the driver. Despite the distressing ordeal, the victim was left physically unharmed but emotionally shaken, with a visible mark under her right eye.

Marquez, who remained indifferent when shown the footage of the incident, is currently on unsupervised release for a previous domestic violence assault conviction.
