A 6-year-old boy was airlifted to a Westchester County hospital with severe lacerations after a two-vehicle crash on I-87 in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22, in Orange County’s town of Newburgh

New York State Police Trooper Tara McCormick stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Toyota Tundra, driven by 42-year-old Peter W. Nugent from Litchfield County, was parked on the right shoulder.

Nugent then reentered the roadway, colliding with a 2011 Toyota Venza.

As a result of the collision, the Toyota Venza overturned into the median. The 6-year-old passenger in the Venza sustained severe lacerations, prompting the need for an airlift to Westchester Medical Center. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

Following the investigation, Nugent was issued a traffic ticket for his involvement in the incident.
