On Thursday, David C. Shroitman, a 27-year-old resident of Somerville, New Jersey, was indicted for the murder of Mary Rose Fealey, also 27.

The indictment follows investigations by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Somerville Police Department after Ms. Fealey was found with multiple stab wounds on January 30.

Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives worked diligently to identify the suspect, leading to the arrest and formal charges against Mr. Shroitman on February 5, 2024.

The investigation involved various units, including the Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and Medical Investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Following a Somerset County Superior Court Order Search on February 4, 2024, Mr. Shroitman was located and detained by authorities at his residence. On April 25, 2024, he was indicted by a Somerset County Grand Jury for several charges, including 1st-degree Murder with Aggravating Factors and 3rd-degree Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution. Currently, Mr. Shroitman remains in custody at the Somerset County Jail.
