Hazlet, NJ—Monmouth County authorities announced Monday that they had investigated a string of arsons on adjacent residential properties in Hazlet over the past five months and arrested Albert Caporaso, 49, of Hazlet for multiple charges.
Caporaso faces seven counts of second-degree Aggravated Arson and additional charges of Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest.
On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Hazlet police and firefighters responded to fires in abandoned homes, sparking a meticulous investigation involving multiple agencies. After spotting Caporaso attempting to ignite a storage shed on April 25, Hazlet Police took him into custody, leading to his incarceration at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. A court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1.
