One Arrested for Assault in Overnight Incident at Cumberland House

CUMBERLAND, MD — Officers from the Cumberland Police Department arrested two individuals following an assault incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday at a residence on Seymour Street. Around 12:44 AM, police responded to the 200 block where they encountered Rachel Brotemarkle and Donald Pryor.

Brotemarkle accused Pryor of assault, and during the investigation, another victim alleged that Brotemarkle had assaulted her.

Both Brotemarkle and Pryor were taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. During the arrest, Brotemarkle was found with a suspected controlled dangerous substance. The pair underwent bond hearings where Brotemarkle posted a $3,000 bond and Pryor a $2,000 percentage bond.

Brotemarkle, 49, of Cumberland, faces charges of second-degree assault and possession of a controlled substance that is not cannabis. Pryor, 56, also from Cumberland, has been charged with second-degree assault.
