Speeding Stop Leads to Arrest on Warrant, Ilegal Gun in Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ – On Tuesday, a Mays Landing man was arrested by the Atlantic City Police Department for speeding and found with a loaded handgun. The arrest took place on Route 30 following a motor vehicle stop.

Officers Moustafa Maarouf and Ivaylo Penchev, operating under a Department of Justice grant for EPJETS, pulled over a speeding vehicle on May 11 at 6:28 PM. Further investigation led to the discovery that the driver, Naji Hart, had a suspended license and several active arrest warrants.

A subsequent search of the vehicle conducted by K9 Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan and K9 Gee uncovered additional illegal items.

Hart, aged 24, was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of CDS paraphernalia in connection with the incident. Following the arrest, he was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The police have urged anyone with information to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit.
