BROOKLYN, NY — A federal indictment unsealed today in Brooklyn charges Yashiya Louisdor, Zaire Alman, Marques Seals, and a fourth unnamed defendant with conspiring to traffic over 40 illegal firearms within a three-month period.
Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, along with top officials from the ATF and NYPD, announced the charges.
The defendants, three of whom were arrested yesterday and are due for arraignment this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Vera M. Scanlon, allegedly conducted numerous transactions involving semi-automatic and defaced guns.
These sales took place in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Brooklyn, dangerously close to an elementary school and major public venues. An additional location near a public transportation hub in Manhattan was also used for these illegal activities.
The indictment details that the firearms were initially obtained in Georgia and then transported to New York for street sales, primarily in Brooklyn. During the arrests, authorities recovered 33 firearms, including rifles and shotguns.
This operation highlights a significant effort by law enforcement to disrupt a major gun trafficking ring, aiming to curb gun violence and enhance public safety in New York City neighborhoods.
The fourth defendant involved remains at large.
