Woman Killed In Fatal Collision in Montgomery County

Montgomery County, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Wednesday, May 8th.

At approximately 12:44 a.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of the westbound MD 200 ramp and Briggs Chaney Road for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 was traveling eastbound on Briggs Chaney Road when it was struck by the driver of a 2008 Honda Accord that was exiting westbound MD 200 onto Briggs Chaney Road. The passenger of the Volkswagen, an adult female, was transported to an area hospital with injuries initially thought to be non-life-threatening, but she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The decedent in the collision has been identified as 35-year-old Kiara Cheeks. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at (240) 773-6620.
