Harvey Cedars to Host Kick-Off for Pedestrian Safety Campaign

HARVEY CEDARS, NJ—On Thursday at 10 a.m., Harvey Cedars will launch a public safety campaign to reduce pedestrian accidents.

The news conference, which will be held outside Birdy’s Café on Long Beach Boulevard, marks the beginning of the Street Smart NJ initiative on Long Beach Island.

Rather than citations alone, the campaign seeks to enhance pedestrian safety through education and enforcement.

Harvey Cedars Mayor John Imperiale, Police Chief Robert Burnaford, Cheryl Kastrenakes of the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association, and Melissa Hayes of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority will speak at the event.

First piloted in 2013, Street Smart NJ has since expanded to over 240 municipalities across New Jersey, reflecting a growing commitment to safer roadways.
