Driver Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Absecon

ABSECON, NJ — The Absecon Police Department announced the successful apprehension of a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on February 17, 2024, on US Route 30 (Absecon Boulevard). The incident resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male.

Everette D. Williams, 52, of Atlantic City, was identified as the driver after a thorough investigation. Despite initially eluding capture, Williams was located and arrested by the US Marshal Task Force in Atlantic City on May 16, 2024, without incident.

He faces multiple charges including second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, and third-degree charges for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license resulting in death, and removal of a vehicle identification number.

The Absecon Police Department expressed gratitude towards the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, US Marshal’s Service, Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasantville Police Department, and the Vineland, NJ Police Department for their collaboration in the investigation and subsequent arrest.

Everette Williams is currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
