Newark Police Asking For Your Help Identifying Fugitive Porch Pirate

NEWARK, NJ—The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, is appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect involved in a recent package theft.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m. near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and South Orange Avenue.

According to the victim’s report, three packages valued at $429.00 were stolen. Surveillance footage shows a male suspect, who initially walked past the residence pulling a rolling briefcase.

He returned, ascended the front steps, and transferred the packages into a black garbage bag.

The suspect is described as a Black male dressed in a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue denim pants, and dark-colored shoes. Newark police have released this description in hopes that members of the community can assist in identifying the suspect.

Director Fragé encourages anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Newark Police Division’s Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips are confidential, and information leading to an arrest and conviction may result in a reward.
