Off-Duty NYPD Cop Arrested for Assaulting Child

NEW YORK, NY – An off-duty New York City employee, NYPD Officer Lavell Simpson, was arrested on Friday evening within the 75th Precinct. The 31-year-old male officer was taken into custody at approximately 7:05 PM.

Simpson faces charges of acting in a manner injurious to a child and third-degree assault. The investigation into the specifics of the incident that led to these charges is ongoing.

According to NYPD public records, Sampson is an officer with the 71st Precinct.

The NYPD has not released any further details regarding the incident in which Simpson was involved.
