73-Year-Old New Jersey Man Charged for Murdering Wife

MOORESTOWN, NJ—A 73-year-old Moorestown man, Gerard Slavin, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Linda Slavin, in their apartment on East Camden Avenue. Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Moorestown Township Public Safety Director Patrick J. Reilly Jr. announced the charges yesterday.

Gerard Slavin faces charges of first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault – strangulation. He is currently held at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, awaiting a detention hearing in Superior Court.

The investigation was initiated just before 3 p.m. yesterday after police were called to the couple’s residence in Moorestowne Woods Apartment Homes. Officers discovered Linda Slavin’s body in the bedroom. An autopsy conducted today by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation.

The ongoing investigation is led by Moorestown Township Police Department Detective Ryan Carr, alongside Detectives Shawn McDonough and Katie White from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
