Cumberland Police Arrest Two in Separate DUI Incidents

CUMBERLAND, MD — The Cumberland Police Department reported two separate DUI-related incidents that occurred on Thursday, May 23.

In the first incident, at about 7:47 a.m., officers responded to the 10 block of South Street following a report of a motor vehicle crash and unauthorized vehicle use. The victim claimed that Devin Shreve had taken their vehicle without permission and crashed it. Officers described Shreve as irate and causing a disturbance upon their arrival. Witnesses reported seeing Shreve stumble from the vehicle and discard a liquor bottle. Following his arrest, Shreve was held on a $5,000 bond.

Devin Alexander Shreve, 28, faces multiple charges including DUI-related citations, unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft under $100, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

Later that morning, at approximately 11:01 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle on Centre Street, an area closed for construction. The driver, Daniel Lancaster, was stopped and appeared impaired but refused to perform field sobriety tests. Lancaster was subsequently arrested and released pending his trial.

Daniel Jason Lancaster, 43, was charged with DUI-related citations.
