Three Wanted for Robbery in Newark

NEWARK, NJ—The Newark Police Department, under the direction of Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, is requesting the public’s help to identify three male suspects involved in a recent robbery. The violent incident occurred early Tuesday morning and left one man injured.

At about 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the 100 block of Jefferson Street where a man was reportedly assaulted. While walking toward Ferry Street, the victim was approached by three males who attacked him, striking him in the face and knocking him to the ground. The suspects continued the assault by kicking and stomping on the victim before stealing his personal belongings and fleeing the scene. They were last seen heading south on Jefferson Street and turning left onto Lafayette Street.

The first suspect is described as a White Hispanic male, dressed in a North Face jacket, black pants, and black and white sneakers. The second suspect, a Black male, wore a hooded sweatshirt with a Kappa logo, black pants, and black and white sneakers. The third suspect, also a Black male, was dressed in all-black clothing.

Director Fragé has called for anyone with information about the suspects to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips received through Crime Stoppers are confidential and could lead to a reward for information leading to arrests.
