Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Route 13 Results in Charges for Young Driver

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA – A tragic collision on Route 13 claimed the life of a young motorcyclist on Thursday afternoon. Virginia State Police are currently investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 3:21 PM involving a 2011 Suzuki GSXR1000 motorcycle and a 2010 Lexus LS460.

The accident took place as the motorcycle, driven by 20-year-old Devin M. Marcum of Smyrna, Delaware, was heading north on Route 13. The Lexus, operated by a 17-year-old female from Cape Charles, Virginia, was making a left turn from the southbound lane onto North Bayside Road when it struck the motorcycle. Marcum was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus has been charged with failure to yield the right of way. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and respect traffic signals to prevent such devastating incidents.
