MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, PA—A tragic incident occurred late Wednesday night in Manchester Township when a vehicle fire claimed the life of a local man. The Northern York County Regional Police Department reported that Thomas Rooney, 55, was found deceased in a white 1994 GMC Safari minivan, which was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire, which took place in the 2400 block of Pin Oak Dr., drew a response from York Area United Fire and Rescue who managed to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, there was no other damage to persons or property reported.

Witnesses told police that Rooney had been seen entering and exiting the van throughout the evening and was heard revving the engine repeatedly before the fire started. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with both local fire investigators and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal involved in determining the origin and circumstances of the incident.
