Young Man Shot To Death In D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – A rapid arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting on Minnesota Avenue in Northeast D.C. The incident, which happened yesterday afternoon, resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man from Temple Hills, Maryland..

Officers from the D.C. Metro Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue around 2:46 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Chidozie Njoku suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Njoku was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after, officers apprehended a suspect, identified as 20-year-old Shannon Updike, who has no fixed address. Updike was observed fleeing the area, matching the suspect description. A firearm was recovered during his arrest.

Updike has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed following an extensive investigation by detectives.
