Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop in Dorchester

BOSTON, MA—Yesterday evening, the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) arrested 20-year-old Kqualeke Simplisse from Everett on firearm charges. The arrest took place in Dorchester at approximately 8:01 PM.

The YVSF officers, while patrolling Harvard Street, spotted a vehicle lacking a valid inspection sticker and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop using their cruiser’s emergency signals. During their investigation, officers discovered a firearm inside the vehicle. When the firearm was found, Simplisse attempted to escape but was swiftly apprehended and handcuffed by the officers.

The seized firearm was identified as a Taurus G2S, loaded with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine. Despite the discovery, the vehicle’s operator was released from the scene. Simplisse faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and is slated for arraignment at the Dorchester District Court.
