BOSTON, MA – On Friday, officers from the Boston Police Department’s District A-1 (Downtown) arrested 49-year-old Roberto Alves of Boston on charges of shoplifting.

The incident, which took place around 5:16 PM at 7 Faneuil Hall Marketplace, prompted a response from police after a report of a larceny in progress. Descriptions from Boston Police Operations depicted the suspect donning a black ski mask.

Alves was identified near the Boston Public Market following alerts from the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC), which had previously distributed a flyer identifying him in connection with multiple thefts at the Sunglass Hut. Upon apprehension, officers discovered Alves had an outstanding arrest warrant.

A search conducted by the officers revealed multiple pairs of sunglasses, valued at approximately $2,009, still attached with security tags in Alves’ possession, for which he had no receipt. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody as the investigation continues.
