Drunk Teen Charged with Attack on Cop in Woodbridge

PRINCE WILLIAM, VA – A 15-year-old male from Woodbridge has been charged following an incident involving attempted vehicle tampering and assault on a law enforcement officer. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 26 near Delaware Drive and Maryland Avenue.

Prince William County Police officers, who were patrolling the area, observed the juvenile attempting to enter multiple vehicles. Upon making contact, the officers determined that the individual was intoxicated. When they attempted to detain him, the juvenile actively resisted but was ultimately detained without further major incident. One officer sustained minor injuries during the encounter.

After consultations with Juvenile Court Services, formal charges were filed on May 28. The charges against the juvenile include one count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of vehicle tampering, and one count of public intoxication.

The case is now set to proceed through the court system, with a court date pending. The juvenile has been charged, and petitions have been obtained as the legal process moves forward.
