Cumberland Police Issue Traffic Citations Following Hit and Run

Cumberland, MD — On May 31, 2024, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a hit and run incident on Walnut Street. The investigation revealed that two vehicles had been struck, resulting in significant damage.

Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect vehicle parked on a nearby street. Upon inspection, the vehicle’s damage was found to be consistent with the accident. Initial attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful.

On June 2, 2024, officers conducted a follow-up investigation and made contact with the suspected driver, identified as Jillian Renee Jewell. Ms. Jewell admitted to both the accident and leaving the scene. She was subsequently issued multiple traffic-related citations.

Arrested was Jillian Renee Jewell, age 44, Cumberland, Maryland. Charges: Multiple traffic citations issued.
