BROOKLYN, NY—A 12-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with manslaughter among other charges following a fatal shooting in Brooklyn.
The incident, now classified as a homicide, occurred within the 73rd Precinct/Public Service Area 2 and was confirmed by police on Sunday.
The victim, identified as 14-year-old Josai Guy, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at his residence at 80 Osborn Street. Authorities responded to the scene after a 911 call was made around 10:24 a.m. on June 2. Despite prompt transportation by EMS to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, Guy was pronounced deceased.
The young suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age, faces charges of manslaughter for recklessly causing death, criminal negligent homicide, and criminal possession of a weapon. As the investigation continues, no further arrests have been made.
