Man Arrested For Murdering Wife Inside Indianapolis Home

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A prompt response by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Northwest District officers led to the arrest of 25-year-old Robert Cooley in connection with a domestic homicide. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 1, on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Armory Lane just before 7:20 AM following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult female victim inside a residence, deceased from gunshot wounds. Cooley was detained at the scene without any complications.

IMPD’s Victim’s Assistance and the Chaplain’s Office were present to support those affected during the ongoing investigation. Homicide detectives arrived shortly thereafter, secured a search warrant for the home, and during their search, they found a firearm which was taken as evidence.

Following consultations with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives arrested Cooley on charges of murder. The final decision on the charges will be made by the Prosecutor’s Office. It is important to note that a charge is merely an accusation, and Cooley is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Marion County Coroner’s Office after proper notification of next-of-kin.
