One Injured in Head-On Crash With Dump Truck in Howell

Howell Township, NJ – The Howell Township Traffic Safety Unit investigated a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Squankum Road (CR-547) near the intersection of Herbertsville Road (CR-549) on Wednesday at approximately 8:01 a.m.

A 58-year-old Brick resident driving a 2012 Audi A3 turned right from Herbertsville Road onto Squankum Road northbound, using the merging lane. While entering Squankum Road, the driver crossed the centerline and collided with a 2024 Kenworth Dump Truck, driven by a 62-year-old Pennsylvania resident, in an offset head-on manner.

The Audi A3 operator sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the dump truck did not report any injuries. The severity of the crash led to a prolonged closure of the roadway.

Responding entities included the Howell Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police, Squankum Fire Company, Ramtown Fire Department, Howell Township Fire Bureau, Monmouth County HAZMAT, Howell Office of Emergency Management, Howell Police EMS, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, Monmouth County Highway Department, and Certified Auto Mall.
