Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Ellendale

ELLENDALE, DE—Delaware State Police are currently investigating a homicide following a shooting incident in Ellendale. The event occurred yesterday afternoon, at approximately 4:30 PM, on the 12000 block of North Old State Road.

Troopers dispatched to the scene discovered a 17-year-old female had been shot and was initially taken to the Ellendale Fire Company. She was subsequently transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been released pending family notification. Additionally, a 19-year-old male presented himself at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, which was determined to be non-life-threatening.

Early reports from the investigation indicate that the shooting ensued after a fight erupted among several individuals at a community center. During the altercation, an unidentified suspect drew a firearm and shot into the crowd, striking the two victims. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather more information.
