Fire Destroys Home in Elkton

ELKTON, MD—A significant fire broke out in a two-story single-family dwelling on Thursday evening, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage. The incident, which took place at 184 Rock Church Road in Elkton, Cecil County, was reported by a passerby at 7:41 p.m.

Firefighters from the Singerly Fire Company responded to the blaze, which was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. Despite the quick response, the home was severely damaged.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The smoke alarm present in the dwelling did not activate, and there were no fire alarm or sprinkler systems installed. The fire’s origin was identified in the bathroom ceiling, but the cause is still under investigation.
