Stafford, VA – A 61-year-old Stafford man was arrested for driving under the influence after exhibiting erratic driving behavior, as reported by multiple witnesses.

On June 8th, around 10:38 p.m., Sergeant A.T. Leckemby responded to a drunk driving complaint on Garrisonville Road. Multiple callers reported a truck traveling westbound was “swerving badly” and narrowly avoiding collisions. One caller reported their vehicle had been struck. With the help of live updates from the initial caller, Sergeant Leckemby located the suspect vehicle on Raintree Boulevard.

Upon contact, the driver displayed signs of intoxication, including a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. He admitted to consuming six beers at a wedding prior to driving and was found with an open container of Modelo in his vehicle. The driver justified leaving the accident scene by claiming it was only a minor collision involving a mirror.

The driver faces charges of driving under the influence, hit and run, drinking while driving, and a traffic lane violation. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.
