STAFFORD, VA — A traffic stop led to a DUI arrest early on the morning of June 9 at the intersection of Garrisonville Road and Salisbury Drive. Stafford County Sheriff’s Deputy P.J. Leon spotted a black SUV making an illegal U-turn, prompting a stop that revealed more serious offenses.

Upon interacting with the driver, Deputy Leon noted signs of intoxication. The driver admitted to consuming what he described as three “fingers” full of bourbon prior to driving. Further investigation inside the vehicle uncovered two open bottles of alcohol. Compounding the driver’s legal troubles, he was also found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The driver now faces multiple charges including driving under the influence, drinking while driving, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, failure to obey a traffic sign, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. He was subsequently detained and is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.
