Police Arrest Suspect in Verbal Disagreement That Turned Deadly in Manassas

MANASSAS, VA – Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt, 26, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Carlos Marcell Moore that occurred in the early morning hours of May 23 in Manassas. The incident, initially reported on May 23, stemmed from a verbal altercation near a vehicle in the 12000 block of Cadet Ct.

Detectives investigating the murder executed a search warrant on a storage unit rented by Eberhardt, uncovering two firearms, though neither was used in the shooting. Subsequent investigations linked Eberhardt to the murder, leading to his arrest on multiple charges, including murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence.

Eberhardt was served with the charges at the Adult Detention Center, where he was already held on unrelated charges. He is currently held without bond, with a court date pending.
