WOODBRIDGE, NJ – Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Woodbridge Police Department Director Robert Hubner announced the sentencing of 23-year-old Antonio Rivera of Woodbridge in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred last year.

On August 31, 2023, at approximately 5:39 PM, Woodbridge Police were called to the intersection of Woodbridge Center Drive and Plaza Drive following a hit-and-run report. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Kristen Bruschi of Fords, NJ, severely injured after being struck by a black Ford Mustang while crossing the street with her bicycle. The vehicle involved had fled the scene. Bruschi was rushed to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The investigation, led by Sergeant Joseph Angelo of the Woodbridge Police Department and Detective James Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, identified Rivera as the driver. Rivera was apprehended on September 1, 2023, after he admitted during questioning to being at the wheel at the time of the accident. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash among other related offenses.
