East Boston Robbery Suspect Arrested for Additional Crimes

BOSTON, MA – On Saturday, June 15, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) arrested Timothy Deconinck, 55, of Malden, on a warrant related to a $240,000 robbery that occurred on June 7 at 230 Meridian Street in East Boston.

Around 1:20 p.m., officers responded to a breaking and entering report at 212 Waldemar Ave. A 911 caller had reported two men using power tools to enter an apartment. Upon arrival, officers apprehended Deconinck, who was found with a drill and other tools attempting to break into the apartment.

Officers continued their search for the second suspect and soon arrested William Cataldo, 59, of Saugus.

Deconinck is set to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on several charges, including Unarmed Robbery of a Person Over 65 (Subsequent Offense), Carjacking, and Impersonating a Police Officer. Additional charges include Possession of Burglarious Tools, Attempt to Commit a Crime (Breaking & Entering), Defacing Property, Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
