Suspect Arrested for Robbery in Utica

UTICA, NY – On May 24, Utica Police responded to a robbery on the 1700 block of Genesee Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported being accosted by a male and female as she left a store. The male suspect then struck her in the face multiple times and stole her recently purchased items before fleeing on foot.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division due to the nature of the incident. Investigators reviewed body camera footage from a previous encounter involving both the suspect and the victim, leading to a positive identification of the suspect.

On June 17, officers from the Crime Prevention Unit apprehended Shaleek Palmer, 26, of Utica. Palmer faces charges in connection with the robbery. Further details on the specific charges are forthcoming.
