Bars from a prison jail cast a shadow on the floro.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — A distressing incident at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail early Tuesday morning resulted in injuries to two police officers. At around 3:30 AM, 38-year-old Jasmin C. White of Charlottesville, who had been arrested for driving under the influence, assaulted the officers during her intake process at the facility.

Upon their arrival at the jail, as the officers opened the vehicle door to escort White inside, she became combative. She kicked one officer and struck another in the head with her handcuffs. The impact of the assault required medical attention for one of the officers, who was subsequently transported to UVA Health for treatment of injuries that were determined to be non-life threatening.

The Albemarle County Police Department is likely to pursue additional charges against White for the assault on the officers. This incident highlights the risks law enforcement officers face and the unpredictability of situations involving individuals in custody. The investigation into the assault continues as the department reviews the circumstances leading up to the incident.
