Syracuse Police Homicide Unit Solver 95% of Cases in 2023

SYRACUSE, NY — Today, the Syracuse Police Department proudly acknowledged the exceptional performance of its Homicide Unit throughout 2023. The unit achieved a remarkable 95% solve rate for homicide cases, significantly surpassing the national average of 52.3%, as reported by the FBI.

This high rate of case resolutions underscores the dedication and effectiveness of the Syracuse Homicide Unit in addressing and solving homicide cases within the city. In 2023 alone, the unit’s diligent efforts led to 28 arrests related to homicide investigations, with 21 of these for Murder in the Second Degree.

The department extended its congratulations to all the detectives in the Homicidie Unit, commending their continued commitment to justice and their significant impact on community safety.
