Hackensack, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Bruce Piekarsky, 69, of Davie, FL, on charges of theft, misapplication of entrusted property, and tampering with public records.

The arrest follows an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck. In September 2023, the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts referred information to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit regarding the misappropriation of funds involving Piekarsky, a former court officer responsible for money collection pursuant to civil court orders.

Detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit initiated a thorough investigation into Piekarsky’s activities. The months-long investigation uncovered that Piekarsky mishandled funds entrusted to him beginning in 2014. An audit revealed approximately $1.5 million in missing funds that were collected by Piekarsky in his capacity as an officer of the court.

Piekarsky now faces multiple charges as the investigation continues.
