Gaithersburg Man Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault of Teenager

GAITHERSBURG, MD – A 26-year-old man, Samuel Deweh Gray, Jr., is in custody following an attempted sexual assault of a teenager in Gaithersburg.

The incident occurred on Monday, June 17, 2024, shortly before 3 p.m. The female victim entered an elevator in an office building in the 800 block of Russell Avenue. Gray, Jr. allegedly began violently assaulting the victim until witnesses intervened, causing him to flee. A search conducted by Montgomery County Police K-9 units was unable to locate him at the time.

Through the investigation, Gray, Jr., who has no known address, was identified as a suspect and arrested on Tuesday, June 18. He has been charged with attempted first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.

Gray, Jr. is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
