Wilkes-Barre Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Assaulting Store Employee

WILKES-BARRE, PA – A 59-year-old man from Wilkes-Barre, Christopher McPhail, was arrested following an incident involving assault, public intoxication, and possession of a controlled substance. The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, at approximately 4:01 PM on South Main Street.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call at a local business where McPhail allegedly made lewd comments towards a 25-year-old female employee before physically assaulting her. The victim reported that McPhail struck her multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Officers later apprehended McPhail, noting his visible intoxication and potential danger to himself and others. During a search incident to his arrest, officers found suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia on his person. McPhail was subsequently transported to City Headquarters for processing. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to handle the case.
