Honors Bestowed Upon Suffolk County’s Finest

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The Police Reserves of Suffolk County recently recognized several officers for their exceptional service in ensuring public safety. Officers Darwin Nieto, Conor Diemer, Joseph Hernandez, Zachary Vormittag, and Brendan Nappi from the Seventh Precinct were celebrated for their crucial roles in locating and assisting a suicidal individual armed with a shotgun.

Sergeant David Ferrara received accolades for his decisive actions that potentially saved the life of Sixth Precinct Officer Michael LaFauci, who was shot while on duty last May. Ferrara’s rapid response during the critical incident earned him significant praise.

Additionally, Detective Michael Langella and Detective Erik Pedersen were acknowledged for their successful efforts in apprehending a sexual predator who had targeted elderly women in the Seventh Precinct, breaking into their homes and assaulting them.

The ceremony also highlighted the academic achievements of SCPD members’ children by distributing scholarships. Recipients included Madeleine Hardy, Allison Blosser, Nicholas Friedlander, Ethan Shulder, Sophia Minnion, Margaret Monahan, and Sophia Cano, all of whom were recognized for their scholarly pursuits.

This recognition ceremony not only highlights the bravery and dedication of Suffolk County’s law enforcement officers but also supports the educational aspirations of their families.
