According to Chesapeake Animal Services, scammers are contacting individuals claiming to have found their lost pets and stating that these animals require emergency surgery. The scammers then attempt to solicit payments over the phone.

Chesapeake Animal Services has clarified that they do not request payments in this manner and urges the public to remain cautious. If you receive such a call, do not provide any payment information over the phone.

Residents who believe they may have been targeted by this scam are encouraged to report the incident to the Chesapeake Police Department at 757-382-6161. Sharing this information with neighbors and friends can help protect the community from falling victim to these fraudulent activities.
