Reckless Vehicular Homicide Charge Filed in Fatal Roxbury Crash

ROXBURY, NJ – Morris County Acting Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, alongside Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone, announced charges against Gerald Veneziano, 41, of Belleville, in relation to a deadly motor vehicle collision. Veneziano faces a second-degree charge of Reckless Vehicular Homicide following the incident on Howard Boulevard in Roxbury.

The crash occurred on Thursday, May 31, at approximately 10:30 p.m., involving Veneziano’s northbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado and a southbound 2019 Mazda 3, driven by 19-year-old Jacob Davis of Flanders. Davis was declared deceased at the scene.

Veneziano was extracted from his vehicle and hospitalized at Morristown Medical Center with severe internal injuries. Investigation revealed that Veneziano was traveling at an estimated speed of 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash. Authorities also discovered numerous open alcohol containers near the Silverado.

The charges were formally brought against Veneziano on Tuesday, June 21. He is additionally facing several motor vehicle offenses. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office continues to handle the case, highlighting the serious consequences of reckless driving.
