New York City Cop Arrested for Drunk Driving, Running Red Light

BROOKLYN, NY — On Monday, June 24, 2024, at approximately 12:15 AM, off-duty New York City Police Officer Angel Carmona, 52, was arrested within the confines of the 79th Precinct.

Officer Carmona faces charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and violations for running a red light and Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI). The circumstances surrounding the arrest have not been detailed at this time.

The NYPD has commenced an internal investigation in response to the arrest. Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Carmona is a 17-year veteran of the department with an otherwise flawless record as a police officer, according to data on file by the NYPD.
