Elderly Man Assaulted and Robbed at Canal Street Subway Station

MANHATTAN, NY—A violent robbery occurred on the southbound R platform at Canal Street Station on Monday, leading to the assault of a 69-year-old man. The incident took place at approximately 11:15 AM when an unidentified male assailant attacked the elderly victim from behind, wrapping an arm around his neck and repeatedly punching him in the face.

Following the assault, the suspect forcibly took the victim’s belongings and fled the scene on foot to an unknown location. The victim sustained minor injuries during the attack and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are currently searching for the suspect involved in this attack and are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the individual responsible for this crime.
