Newark Police Seek Fugitive Wanted for Shooting

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for 23-year-old Trevon H. Murad of Linden, NJ. Murad is wanted for his involvement in an aggravated assault shooting that took place on the evening of April 4, 2024.

The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the 800 block of South 16th Street. According to police reports, responding officers found an adult male and female who had been shot following an altercation. The altercation involved a group that included several females and a male, who were acquainted with the victims.

Both victims were quickly transported to University Hospital and are currently listed in stable condition. Following an investigation, shooting detectives identified Murad as a suspect. He is now facing charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The Newark Public Safety Department is urging anyone with information on Murad’s whereabouts to come forward to assist with his capture and ensure community safety.
